When you run out of your paltry 8gb or even the slightly better 32gb of space on your brand new Wii U, what are you to do? The answer is simple, and hopefully one that will be adopted by all consoles from now on.
Engadget had a chance to speak with the Reggie, and it turns out that you can just use an external HDD to add storage to the system. Simple.
“The reason we did it that way is that the cost of that type of storage memory is plummeting. What we didn’t want to do is tie a profit model to something that’s gonna rapidly decline over time. We’ll let the consumer buy as much as they want, as cheaply as they want,” Fils-Aime said.
Reggie goes on to say that you can plug in up to 3TB of storage, and that you are kidding yourself if you think you need that much. But hey, you can do it.
A 1TB external drive goes for about $90 right now, so if you want to go CRAZY with storage that’s about how much your are going to have to pay.
