If anyone was ever getting confused that Mojang’s upcoming title Scrolls had anything to do with The Elder Scrolls franchise (this applies to no one but Bethesda’s lawyers), then this new website and trailer should squash any of that. Scrolls, as it turns out, is a card collecting and battling game.

The official description of the game:
Scrolls is Mojang’s next game that aims to take the genre of Collectible Card Games to a whole new level. Streamlined gameplay aimed towards digital online gaming, auction houses, single-player campaigns and an array of multi-player gaming modes such as friendly matches, tournaments and ranked matches are only some of the features we are looking to implement to give the CCG-fans a never before seen online experience.
As we can see from the video, the main gameplay will take place on a battlefield of hexes, and your scrolls (cards) will be used to summon various units to help you destroy the other team. The goal is to take down three of the five idols that sit at the back of board. Your summoned characters have, of course, different abilities and ranges to complete this task, and they have different attack frequency. Some can attack each round, while others have to wait.
Just like Minecraft, an open beta of Scrolls is set to come out soon, and you will be able to buy it and play it long before the game hits a 1.0 release.
